Must See!

If you have not heard/seen Zeitgeist, you much watch it NOW! I recommend watch the first one (from 2007) first and then Zeitgeist Addendum. We need to wake up and open our eyes.

"The last thing the men behind the curtain want is a conscious informed public capable of critical thinking. Which is why a continually fraudulent zeitgeist is output via religion, the mass media, and the educational system. They seek to keep you in a distracted, naive bubble. And they are doing a damn good job of it."
-Zeitgeist 2007

You can watch the videos here:

Zeitgeist: The Movie - 2007 by Peter Joseph from ZeitgeistMovie.com on Vimeo.

Zeitgeist: Addendum - 2008 by Peter Joseph from ZeitgeistMovie.com on Vimeo.

But I highly recommend visiting their website as well.

Spread the cause.

Fabulous!

I do not know if I have professed my love for thrift stores and garage sales yet, but just in case I haven't, I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! Look at this magnificent find I found at my favorite little thrift shop today. It is a quaint, little, old woman thrift store run by no one under 65. It is called the Discovery Shop in Chico and I found this there for only $25 today!! (I almost feel like I am giving away my secret shop, but oh well :/ I know they can always use the business).

PS check out my new blog! It's my new project.

Art of the day

Soo I've gotten in to sewing. I am just beginning but I've fallen in love. This is the first dress I've made and I've decided to wear it for Halloween. I'll be Mod-60s. Also, I guess I've made it hard on myself because I'm not using patterns. Just a piece of paper, pencil, sewing machine necessities, and scissors. I know it's hard and I've already seen the unfortunate mishaps from not using a pattern, but I love the freedom of it. It's my first piece of clothing ever, so be kind :)

I am on my phone so I guess I can't upload pictures. Hang tight and I'll do it as soon as I get home. Thanks bloggers!

Creating Peace

I just started reading Practicing Peace in Times of War by Pema Chodron and it is amazing. I have decided that I want to live in peace always and I am going to learn how to do it. I have always been wanting to advocate Peace in the world, but I have decided now to start with myself. I feel really happy about it and I am hoping that with this new outlook I can start creating art again and be more creative. Hopefully I can create some new stuff for you bloggers, thanks for being patient :)

Furniture Refurbished

So this is my first time fixing up furniture and I had so much fun with it! I found this wine rack on the corner down from my house and saw potential in it. I am really happy with the way it turned out, it is a great addition to our house.

Art of the Day

I saw this on another blog today and loved it because it is pretty much how I have been living my life lately. I have been a hard core carnivore since the day I could eat meat and I have felt pretty guilty about it. Growing up around meat eaters I did not really have a choice, not that I probably would have taken it though because steak is my favorite thing ever.

But, I can proudly say that I have been a vegetarian (correction, a pescatarian -I still eat my sushi) for almost 2 weeks now! And I am loving it!! So when I saw this, it made me happy :)

Art of the Day

"When I was walking up the stairs to my dad’s old room, and I was looking at the old photographs, I started thinking that there was a time when these weren’t memories. That someone actually took that photograph, and the people in the photograph has just eaten lunch or something...
I just hope I remember to tell my kids that they are as happy as I look in my old photographs. And I hope that they believe me."

Lyrics of the Day

TULIPS FROM AMSTERDAM
Max Bygraves

When it's Spring again I'll bring again
Tulips from Amsterdam
With a heart thats true I'll give to you
Tulips from Amsterdam
I can't wait until the day you fill
These eager arms of mine
Like the windmill keeps on turning
That's how my heart keeps on yearning
For the day I know we can share these
Tulips from Amsterdam

When it's Spring again I'll bring again
Tulips from Amsterdam
With a heart thats true I'll give to you
Tulips from Amsterdam
I can't wait until the day you fill
These eager arms of mine
Like the windmill keeps on turning
That's how my heart keeps on yearning
For the day I know we can share these
Tulips from Amsterdam

Share these tulips from Amsterdam

Art of the Day

Sorry I am a little obsessed with this artists work lately, but I think I am just so excited for Spring time! His work makes me want to frolic through a field of wild sunflowers.

Art of the Day

Theo Van Doesburg and Piet Mondrian were both artists of the De Stjil movement. Van Doesburg was the starter of the movement and teamed up with the already well-known Mondrian to make it huge. They were famous for their straight horizontal and vertical lines that they incorporated not only in their art but in their architecture as well.

They ended up splitting up because they had a disagreement on whether or not diagonal lines should be incorporated in the pieces. Mondrian strongly opposed and when Van Doesburg did not change his ways, Mondrian bid him and the art farewell. Not until a run in in Paris did they make amends.

Here is some of Theo Van Doesburg's art and although it can be unbearably simple, I find it beautiful.

RIP

Trainer Dawn Brancheau was killed today by a killer whale at Sea World, Florida. Our hearts go out to her family. This is not the first time this has happened, maybe sometimes animals are better left in their natural environment.

Sea World does an incredible job at saving the lives of many animals, but once they are healthy maybe they should be put back to what they know best. I am not an expert, but it seems unnatural.

Again, our hearts go out to Dawn's friends and family. She was an animal lover just like us.
