Art of the day
I just started a digital media class yesterday and saw the collaborative work of previous semesters' students. I love to see their art because it is so inspiring to see my peers do amazing things.
Here is just a taste of what great things we will be doing this semester:
Landscape painting Spring 2001
Portrait of Salvador Dali Spring 2001

Bamboo
Sorry guys, I swear this will be my last environment post for the evening. I swear I'm not trying to preach, just raise awareness.
I have been really into bamboo for a little over a year now. Last Christmas my aunt and uncle who live in Budapest got me a lovely bamboo scarf that is beyond soft! Bamboo is so resourceful it is incredible!
They are starting to build bikes that are durable and esthetically pleasing. Check out this article I found that talks about some new creations.
Enjoy :)
Recycle, recycle, recycle
So, I always wonder what the point of junk mail is. In these times of global warming awareness, concern about recycling, and emphasis on conserving, you would think that junk mail would be obsolete. However, the annoying advertisements still come. So, Sandhi Schimmel Gold decided to make art of of her junk, take a look. What a beautiful way to create something new out of something so pointless. Hopefully soon advertisers will realize that junk mail kills 2.6 million trees every year.
Dinner of the evening
Soo I decided to splurge a little tonight and buy a steak for dinner. I went to the restaurant JRDN in San Diego for my birthday and got the most delectacble meal which consisted of this exact thing. Ever since, I have been craving it, so I decided to make my version of it.
My father always told me that presentation is 80% of the meal, so I paired it with a lovely green plate and made it look elegant. Hope you are all drooling by now...<3

If the shoe fits!
Latte Art
The other day when I was working, I made this latte and the art ended up just being abstract. The abstract one's are some of my favorite because you can try to see what you can find in it. It's like watching the clouds.
So anyways, the other day I made this one and I realized it looked exactly like the figure of a woman twisting, with her arm above her, and her hair flowing behind her. Figure drawing is my favorite thing to draw, so when I saw that I was stoked!
Today at work I had so much fun trying new designs with my drinks. I didn't take any pictures, but maybe I will tomorrow. I came up with some fun ones!
PS If you dont know anything about "Latte Art" you should definitely check it out. Some people can do some incredible things.
Inspiration
This video is a MUST SEE. Every time I watch it I am inspired and instantly happy. It literally brings a smile to my face every time. Its epic.

Life
Here's a new list of endangered species that was put out to raise awareness in 2010. It really affected me and made me want to do something. I really wish I could be a vegetarian, but in all honesty, I don't think I could do it.
I figure I need to pick and choose my battles and I can make up for it in a different way. One of those ways is to inform people on the realities of what we as humans do to affect other living things. I know everyone "knows", but by reading little things like this, it really helps you understand the severity.
Yes we are all only one individual on our own, but together we can do amazing things. Even if just reading about the animals is all you take from it, that is all I ask for.
Cold as Ice
I came across this picture the other morning when I had to wake up early and go into work. It made me happy as soon as I looked at it and that morning I wrote "Morning world...this will be me outside in 15 mins. Glad I'm running on 1 hour of sleep, no big deal. But this picture is art and I thought it was a beautiful thing to wake up to." Beauty so early in the AM in a necessity.
$$$
It's a little ridiculous what some people will do with their money. Um, instead of blowing $18,000 on a pair of shoes that will go out of fashion in a few years you could, I dunno, help someone not as fortunate as you with food or shelter. Or hey, there was this huge earthquake that just happened that left many people homeless. You could spend a few bills helping them out and still afford a cute pair of Manolos.
Interesting...
